Astellas is announcing a Senior Finance Analyst opportunity in Westborough, MA.

Purpose & Scope:

The position supports financial reporting, accounting support, headcount, capital spend, planning and analysis for US based research entities. This requires close collaboration with US business partners who implement scientific research and innovative science, in addition to partnering with global shared service teams and global research finance teams.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Supports review and consolidation of monthly and quarterly managerial reporting for business partners, using Anaplan and Tableau systems.

  • Supports preparation and consolidation of forecasts for all business partners, including four annual forecast cycles, annual budget proposal and mid-term planning (MTP).

  • Assists in the compilation and preparation of presentations for local and API management, including analysis of actual results and support for forecast cycles / budget proposals.

  • Completes formal monthly managerial variance reports for US entities.

  • Take ownership of capital asset approvals, headcount request, reporting, and reconciliation.

  • Act as primary liason with HR department to ensure accurate headcount reporting on a monthly basis, and with each forecast round.

  • Develops and maintains an environment that effectively supports the planning process through a strong working knowledge of Anaplan and Tableau.

  • Supports monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting closing activities for all supported entities, including review by supervisor.

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and obtain approval from supervisor for all supported entities.

  • Act as a liason with US Corporate shared services for all P2P, fixed assets, accounts payable and other shared services performed.

  • Creates ad hoc reports as needed by Management.

Quantitative Dimensions:

  • Support up to 9 US entities with annual operating budgets of $320M, $16M Capital budget, and headcount exceeding 400.

Organizational Context:

This position will report directly to the Assoc. Dir. Finance. The primary partners of this role are the budget managers and head of each research function in US.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance.

  • 3-5+ years previous accounting or finance experience.

  • Hands on experience with budget/forecast cycles for a large, growing organization.

  • Proven strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills managing competing priorities.

  • Strong computer skills with required proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred

  • Pharmaceutical industry experience a plus.

  • MBA degree or CPA certification a plus.

  • Experience working on financial reporting systems such as SAP, Anaplan, Tableau or similar.
