Astellas is announcing a Research Associate II, Stem Cell Research opportunity at their Astellas Institute of Regenerative Medicine (AIRM) site in Westborough, MA.
Performs experiments and progress research and/or development in collaboration with others. Makes detailed observations, analyzes data and interprets results. Investigates, creates and develops new methods and technologies for project advancement.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Perfoms cell culture and cell characterization experiments, including culture and generation of pluripotent stem cells (ES, iPS)
Participates in and contributes to experimental design and data analysis
Facilitates method and technique transfer to manufacturing
Understands and effectively conducts biological laboratory experiments utilizing internal and published procedures
Updates and optimizes existing batch records and procedures
Ensures availability of all experimental materials
Ensures proper maintenance of laboratory equipment and record keeping
Consistently completes work effectively and efficiently
Communicates effectively with line manager and group members
Consistently achieves individual goals as set out in Star Performance
Reports to the next line manager.
Communicates with other members of multidisciplinary teams.
BS with 3+ years' or MS with 0-2 years' relevant experience
Solid working experience in cell culture
Working knowledge of basic molecular biology techniques, FACS, qPCR, western blot, ELISA, cell imaging and immunofluorescence techniques
Attention to detail and careful record-keeping
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Experience with developing protocols for directed differentiation and maturation
Prior knowledge or experience in stem cell biology or ocular biology
Ability to work with a variety of personnel including staff, researchers, and academic supervisors.
