Astellas is announcing a Manager, Research Operations and Contracting opportunity at their Astellas Institute of Regenerative Medicine (AIRM) site in Westborough, MA.
The Manager of Research Operations and Contracting is responsible for the successful execution of assigned programs across AIRM's Research programs; provides operational project support to monitor progress of priority programs across the assigned portfolio and provides critical information to Astellas leadership and stakeholders on critical path activities and milestones; responsible for supporting multiple functions within Research (legal, finance, IT and operations); works in partnership with research leaders to successfully plan, track, and report on significant program milestones and provides key input to stakeholders regarding program risks, opportunities, resourcing, and budgets.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for operational project support to assigned programs. Leverages expertise and provides input into the forecasting and development of program milestones, project plans, budget, resource needs.
Under the supervision of Research senior leaders, recommends operational project management plans to ensure execution of the strategies across multiple research projects as well as the establishment of a robust, collaborative environment to improve internal alignment. Prepares internal team documents, and authors periodic reports to project executives and coordinate documentation and archiving of project deliverables.
Coordinates and facilitates contracting of new external partners for Research department through regular, timely communication with procurement, legal, risk management, ethics and compliance groups.
Serves as department's main contact for internal communications with EH&S and Facilities to ensure safe and efficient operation of research laboratories
Supports execution of strategic vision through various activities including project planning, contract initiation and management, documentation workflow, budgeting, forecasting and risk management
Works closely with Senior Research management to lead and coordinate Research operations including, but not limited to, RQA compliance, budget management, and documents management
Manage the development and maintenance of project infrastructure -- including library/repositories of data, slide decks, action items, and Budgets. Provide critical review and editing of documents to support accurate reporting and communications
Facilitates communication and information sharing across project teams, other functional areas in Astellas.
Research Budgets: Directly influence the efficient use of resources for pipeline products, Research staff, cross-functional AIRM team members, partners, vendor-negotiation for services both internally and externally and monitoring of budget.
Contact and collaboration with Executive and VP levels is routine. This role requires high levels of collaboration for success and will require consistent interface with cross-functional colleagues to monitor execution of plans.
BA/BS with 5+ years related experience, or advanced degree and 3+ years of experience in the Pharma and Biotech fields. Extensive (ie 15+ years) related on-the-job experience in the Pharma/Biotech fields may be considered in lieu of degree
Demonstrated effective cross-functional leadership as evidenced by line/project management
Must be well-organized and effectively maximize resources
Exceptional critical thinking, judgment, and analytical skills to evaluate the importance and urgency of problems.
Demonstrates interpersonal flexibility and resiliency to effectively lead through complicated programs and/or issues.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong experience in product categories targeted by Astellas in RM
Broad knowledge of other internal functional operations (Tech Ops CMC, Manufacturing, Supply Chain etc...)
