Purpose & Scope:

The position supports financial reporting, accounting, headcount, capital spend and budgeting / forecasting for US based research entities. This requires close collaboration with US and Japan based Research & Innovation finance team, in addition to partnering with global shared service teams.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Act as liaison with HR to maintain up to date headcount records for all supported entities to ensure accurate monthly reporting and budget / forecast submissions.

  • Take ownership of capital asset requisitions, approvals, and maintaining capital budget tracking for all supported entities.

  • Prepare monthly budget vs. actual reports for distribution to business partners.

  • Support budget / forecast activities in template creation and system loading of all required submissions.

  • Reviewing existing financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with internal controls.

  • Support month end close activities including review of accruals and posting of journals.

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and obtain approval from supervisor for all supported entities.

  • Act as a liason with US Corporate shared services for all P2P, fixed assets, accounts payable and other shared services performed, including issue resolution on behalf of supported entities.

  • Creates ad hoc reports as needed by Management.

Quantitative Dimensions:

  • Support up to 9 US entities with annual operating budgets of $320M, $16M Capital budget, and headcount exceeding 400.

Organizational Context:

  • This position will report directly to the Assoc. Dir. Finance. The primary partners of this role are the budget managers, researchers in US research entities and global Research & Innovation team members.

  • Reviewing existing financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with internal controls.

  • Support month end close activities including review of accruals and posting of journals.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • BA/BS in Accounting / Finance or related field.

  • 0-2 years of experience in financial planning, analysis or accounting.

  • Proven strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work on multiple priorities and execute in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong computer skills with required proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred:

  • Pharmaceutical industry experience a plus.

  • Experience working on financial reporting systems such as SAP, Anaplan, Tableau or similar.
