Integration and facilitation role supporting the Head of Research Communications and Advocacy, responsible for information disclosure and communications within the global organizations accountable to the CScO and externally across the geographic regions, primarily US/UK.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Develops and drives internal and external communication strategy for the CScO and divisions under CScO
Manages and develops regional Research Communications & Advocacy team
In coordination with Corporate Advocacy and M&D Communications, leads development of communication materials including press releases, talking points, presentations, social media content, internal articles and company communications, etc.
Establishes relationship with key industry communications outlets
Partners with Research leaders to proactively identify emerging issues and drafts and prepare appropriate communications plan
This critical position will deliver significant externally-directed corporate communications and key messaging that will raise the profile of Astellas in highly competitive scientific hot spots such as Boston/Cambridge and San Francisco Bay areas in the US and similar biotech hot spots in the UK, supporting innovation, acquisition opportunities and talent acquisition.
This position will report to the Head of Research Communications and Advocacy, and will partner closely with the CScO, Heads of Research Divisions, Corporate Advocacy and M&D Communications
University degree with 8-10 years communications experience, preferably with a pharmaceutical/biotech organization
Strong aptitude for handling scientific discussions with Research leadership
Understanding of communications channels, including strong social media and digital communications skills, and ability to design and conduct appealing communications specific to research
Strong people management and development skills
Capability to facilitate discussions with senior leaders
Exceptional English written and oral communication skills
An advanced scientific degree (MA, MBA, PhD) in a relevant scientific discipline, communications or business strategy
Strong ability to present to groups of all sizes and manage presentation challenges (technical issues, unique questions, etc.)
