Astellas is announcing an Associate Director, Digital Excellence opportunity in Northbrook, IL

Purpose & Scope:

The Associate Director, Digital Excellence is a core member of the Commercial Digital Marketing COE team responsible for supporting the Head of Digital driving the business through data and analytics. The position will be responsible for helping the digital team identify potential optimization focus areas for enhancement of the customer experience, as well as support the Head of Digital to develop Astellas' Global digital strategy. The scope covers all current digital marketing channels within Astellas: emails, apps, websites, mobile optimization, SEO, etc.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the development Astellas digital strategy defining both long and short term visions and roadmaps for projects
  • Structure and identify the key business problems that data and analytics can help solve
  • Understands strategic needs of the Global business, and is able to translate need into potential new use cases
  • Builds deep understanding of the product/functional areas (e.g., Operations, Marketing) that the business partner is aligned with
  • Knows the status of all use cases and ensures all feedback is gathered and addressed
  • Monitor digital marketing effectiveness and provide guidance to global, regional and affiliate teams
  • Define Global KPIs and track & communicate progress to all relevant stakeholders
  • Identify and prioritize high impact opportunities within current channels (emails, apps, websites, mobile optimization, SEO, etc.) by conducting extensive competitive & market assessment and historic performance
  • Provide strategies/recommendations for digital marketing efficiency (e.g., consolidating media purchases and negotiating optimum media rates, shortlist of preferred vendors)
  • Lead marketing effectiveness initiatives globally for performance assessments and ROI metrics
  • Collaborates closely with Strategic Brand marketing team to promote the usage of data and analytics
  • Works as a partner with and challenge the Strategic Brand marketing team by asking the right questions
  • Provides insight to the business partner in terms of what "state of the art" looks like in data and analytics in their area
  • Acts as the key contact within the Digital team for use case ideas and supports use case

  • Operational Marketing team

  • Support Global digital marketing ecosystem implementation and migration roadmap:
  • Work with cross-functional and cross-regional teams to gather, define and align on Global business and functional requirements
  • Manage multiple workstreams defining Global guidance, WOW, KPI's and success criteria
  • Manage third party vendors
  • Support change management strategy and execution
  • Develop training program for new technology partnerships

Organizational Context:

  • Reports to Head of Digital
  • Peer group: Operational Excellence team, Operational Marketing team, Events team, IS/IT
  • Scope: Support to entire global organization

Required

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree

Work experience:

  • Combined 10+ years of experience in Digital marketing (e.g. Digital marketing agency)
  • Minimum of (3) years project management experience at Astellas, or 7 years project management in the industry.
  • Experience with Adobe Marketing Suite
  • Experience with enterprise platform integrations and migrations
  • Experience in Pharma industry a plus
  • Multinational-experience a plus
  • Skills, knowledge:
  • Experience within Healthcare and/or pharmaceutical industry
  • Excellent organizational, planning and project management skills with a strong attention to detail and ability to effectively manage multiple cross-functional projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a matrix organization, able to motivate and inspire team members to high performance levels
  • Proven decision-making and strategic thinking skills leading to successful outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to present complex issues to higher level management and contribute to high level presentations and discussions
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective collaborative relationships with team members, management and internal/external partners
  • Demonstrated ability to be a consistent high level contributor or leader of multiple projects, processes, or functions
  • Ability to lead and support cross-functional teams to deliver against common goals
  • Demonstrated experience influencing without authority
  • Proven track record of success being a high-level independent and team contributor to lead multiple project and processes
  • Experience working with teams / individuals with varied cultural backgrounds & learning styles
  • Ability to define, measure and track success criteria
  • Experience working with Adobe Marketing Suite, specifically AEM, Adobe Analytics, Marketo and Adobe Audience Manager
  • Willingness to travel (approximately 10-20%)

Preferred

  • Advanced degree, with experience in healthcare and/or pharmaceutical marketing
  • Demonstrated understanding or experience in commercial strategic and/or business planning and governance
  • Experience managing both internal and external resources (including remotely)
  • Past experience in cross-continent organization (e.g., Americas, Europe and Japan)

Salary Range

  • $ 141,000 -- $ 188,000
