Astellas Gene Therapies is an Astellas Center of Excellence developing genetic medicines for patients with rare, life-threatening diseases. Based on our innovative approach to developing genetic medicines, as well as our industry-leading internal manufacturing capability and expertise, we have become the Astellas Center of Excellence for their newly-created Genetic Regulation Focus Area. The Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Facilities Maintenance, the Senior Supervisor, Facilities Maintenance will be part of the leadership team for our Facilities Operations department supporting Manufacturing, QC laboratories, warehouse and administrative facilities. This position will lead a small team of employees and 3 rd party service vendors to ensure proper operation of utility systems, process equipment, and site services using approved procedures. The role is primarily located in South San Francisco, CA .

Responsibilities

  • Be part of the department’s leadership team responsible for day-to-day operations in the Central Utility Plant (CUP) and facilities services. Support troubleshooting and recovery efforts including after-hours when necessary.

  • Assign and review work orders using a CMMS. Monitor employees progress to ensure maintenance records and service reports follow cGxP.

  • Use automation systems to oversee operations of utility systems and analyze data to plan improvements and repairs, as necessary.

  • Create, review, and revise SOPs, maintenance plans and schedules. Assist with defining maintenance processes, driving improvements and achieving KPI targets.

  • Understand and adhere to internal and external regulations, procedures, and policies to ensure facilities and equipment are fit for use, service interruptions minimized, and cGMP and safety standards maintained.

  • Collaborate on and implement Quality Change Records for utility and process equipment, as necessary.

  • Lead breakdown investigations and process improvement changes to maximize asset performance.

  • Help lead change initiatives and continuous improvement efforts such as Lean Six Sigma/5S.

  • Coach, mentor, and develop maintenance technicians to be able to meet current and future business needs, as well as employees’ individual career goals.

  • Ensure group members complete training and maintain accurate training records.

  • Identify and effectively communicate safety, quality, technical and training issues to team.

  • Partner with internal customers, colleagues, service vendors and suppliers, to meet due dates, achieve department goals and improve quality of service.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma with 10+ years of experience, Technical certificate/license or AA degree with 8+ years of experience, BA/BS degree with a 6+ years of experience in a facilities role in a regulated industry.

  • 5+ years of supervisory experience as a lead worker or higher including writing employee appraisals/evaluations.

  • 5+ years demonstrated experience with a CMMS, including planning and scheduling.

  • 5+ years of experience successfully maintaining and operating utility plant systems, HVAC&R (refrigeration, boilers, air handlers) systems, compressed air and gas systems, and purified water systems, waste treatment system.

  • Excellent technical writing skills including SOPs, maintenance procedures and routine reports.

  • Expertise interpreting technical documents such as blue prints, schematics, logic flow charts, operating and maintenance manuals.

  • Strong GxP knowledge and understanding.

  • Good working knowledge of safety practices.

  • Hands on mechanic experience.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to get results through mentoring others. Effective coaching, facilitation, presentation, and team building skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills. A history of effectively speaking before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  • Demonstrated history of troubleshooting and restarting utility systems using BAS and field devices.

  • Occasionally required to stand up to 6 hours a day. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stand; walk; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and lift 50 lbs.

  • Strong knowledge of Electronic and Electrical principals.

  • Flexible and excels in a dynamic environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience in a small company and high growth, fast-paced environment

  • CMMS experience ideally BMRAM.

Salary Range: $ 99,000 - $132,000$(NOTE: Final salary could be more or less, based on experience)
