About Astellas Gene Therapies
Astellas Gene Therapies is developing genetic medicines for patients with rare, life-threatening diseases. Based on our innovative approach to developing genetic medicines, as well as our industry-leading internal manufacturing capability and expertise, we have become the Astellas Center of Excellence for the newly created Genetic Regulation Focus Area. We are currently exploring three gene therapy modalities: gene replacement, exon skipping gene therapy, and vectorized RNA knockdown, with plans to expand our focus and geographic reach under Astellas. We are based in San Francisco, with manufacturing and laboratory facilities in South San Francisco and Sanford, North Carolina.

The newly created Senior Manager, Finance: Research & Technical Operations position will play a key role on the Astellas Gene Therapies Finance team. The incumbent will be economic advisor to the research and technical operations businesses, responsible for manufacturing, supply chain, inventory and capital engineering finance. The ideal candidate has proven manufacturing finance experience within the biotech industry with a strong understanding of product costing and inventory management. To be successful, the incumbent will be a strong collaborator and communicator, possessing outstanding analytical skills and an attitude that fits our #GSD (Get Stuff Done) culture.
The position will be based at our South San Francisco office, and expected to work at our San Francisco headquarters approximately four days per month. Job level to be determined based upon the incumbent's experience and expertise.
Economic advisor to the Research & Technical Operations business teams
Responsible for finance & accounting requirements for your business areas: accruals, cost accounting, budgets, forecasts, LRP, reporting, etc.
Collaborate effectively across functions to understand key business drivers, and how such drivers affect performance. Develop effective metrics to manage and improve performance
Partner with manufacturing to enable commercial operations. Establish necessary financial processes within Oracle and other AGT systems: product costing, fixed cost absorption, raw material consumption, inventory, supply chain and distribution
Partner with the Research & Tech Ops team to manage the Capital Expenditures budget, assist with project controls and enable cost efficient expenditures that deliver maximum value
Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, IT and HR to meet business and finance needs
Seek to continuously improve financial processes and business performance
Build analytical frameworks and forward-looking models to enable quality decision-making
Perform ad hoc analysis and duties as required
Must Have/Required (Edit and delete as applicable; Recommendation to prioritize the most important qualification on top; short list of up to 10 bullet points)
BS in Finance, Accounting or related discipline with 5+ years' experience in manufacturing finance or related field
Expertise in product costing, cost accounting and inventory within an ERP environment (Oracle preferred)
Strong collaboration, communication and listening skills
Proven ability to establish priorities, work independently, and execute objectives without supervision
Demonstrated success initiating and leading cross-functional projects to successful completion
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Able to "roll up sleeves"

MBA or similar
Experience with product launch in the biotech space
Oracle ERP and Adaptive planning experience
Experience in a high growth environment. Able to quickly traverse between strategic and detail oriented operational topics. Ability to prioritize, make rapid decisions and adjust to changing needs and timelines
