The Role

The Research Associate II will support activities within the Discovery Biology Department. This position involves application of several techniques to produce, purify and characterize AAV viral vectors. The Research Associate will be located in our South San Francisco R&D laboratories.

Responsibilities

  • Purification and characterization of AAV vectors using column chromatography.

  • Analysis of purified AAV vectors by SDS-PAGE, agarose gel electrophoresis, ddPCR, RT-PCR and UV.

  • Support AAV production by maintaining, banking, and transfecting mammalian cells in culture.

  • Conduct and troubleshoot experiments, independently and in collaboration with colleagues, to produce novel AAV vectors.

  • Collect and evaluate data; prepare reports, summaries and presentations; maintain and update laboratory notebook and the laboratory information management system, as appropriate, according to company policy.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Life Sciences or a related discipline with 2-5 years of experience or a Master’s Degree with 1+ years of experience in protein purification techniques.

  • Demonstrated experience with AKTA chromatography in purifying proteins/antibodies. Experience with AAV purification using AKTA chromatography is highly desired.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AKTA FPLC for AAV purification.

Salary Range : $72,800 -$ 97,000- (NOTE: Final salary could be more or less, based on experience)
