Astellas is announcing a Prinicipal Research Associate II, in vivo opportunity at their Xyphos site in South San Francisco, CA.
Purpose:
The primary purpose of the Principal Research Associate is to support in vivo pharmacology activities byperforming small animal research studies, analyzing data, and drafting reports. This individual will work primarily in a laboratory setting to advance CAR adoptive cell therapy programs for treatment of cancer.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Utilizes broad scientific expertise in the area of animal pharmacology to initiate and effectively
execute in vivo animal studies.
Performs IV, IP and SQ injections along with scheduled monitoring of tumor growth and animals'
health including weight.
Establish and maintain new animal cancer models.
Collects and processes rodent blood and tissue samples
Routinely feeds, passages, expands and freezes multiple adherent and suspension cell lines for in
vivo studies
Maintains accurate record keeping in laboratory notebooks and appropriate databases in a timely manner
Writes technical reports detailing procedures, outcomes, and observations.
Qualifications:
Required:
BS with 8+ years; MS with 4+ years relevant laboratory experience.
Demonstrated ability to perform dosing (IV, IP, and SQ injections), blood draw, monitoring/scoring,
necropsy and specimen collection
Demonstrated knowledge of lab animal science guidelines / laws and welfare laws.
Experienced in aseptic tissue culture
Willingness and ability to learn new skills
Ability to analyze data and write concise reports
Will require attention to detail and a dedicated work ethic
Preferred:
Familiarity with one or more of the following techniques: IVIS in vivo imaging system, Multi-color
flow cytometry techniques or ELISA would be a plus.
Industry work or internship experience, especially in CAR-T cell or immuno-oncology field
