About Astellas Gene Therapies

Astellas Gene Therapies is an Astellas Center of Excellence developing genetic medicines for patients with rare, life-threatening diseases. Based on our innovative approach to developing genetic medicines, as well as our industry-leading internal manufacturing capability and expertise, we have become the Astellas Center of Excellence for their newly-created Genetic Regulation Focus Area. We are currently exploring three gene therapy modalities: gene replacement, exon skipping gene therapy, and vectorized RNA knockdown, with plans to expand our focus and geographic reach under Astellas. Job Responsibilities:

  • Execute experiments at various Process Development scales and unit operations, specifically shake flasks and bioreactors.

  • Support design of experiments and analysis of results using basic statistical methods.

  • Analyze samples using various instruments & techniques (eg cell counters, spent media analyzers, chemistry kits).

  • Capture study data in appropriate formats (including paper records, digital repositories), ensuring Good Documentation Practices are followed.

  • Document and share study findings in presentations and reports.

  • Prepare study buffers and reagents.

  • Ensure lab instruments are maintained in proper working state by performing routine maintenance and coordinating vendor repairs.

  • Adhere to Process Development SOP/DOP documents. May review procedures and author SOP/DOPs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant Science or Engineering discipline. 2+ years industry experience.

  • Master’s degree in relevant Science or Engineering discipline. 0+ years industry experience.

  • Prior industry experience in relevant area (eg cell culture and bioreactor systems)

Preferred

  • Experience in production of AAV products.

  • Knowledge of statistical methods for experimental design and data analysis.

Working Conditions

  • Hands-on lab-based position that requires onsite work.

Salary:

  • $86,300 - $115,000 (NOTE: Final salary could be more or less, based on experience)
