Universal Cells (UCI) is announcing a Scientist I, Immunology opportunity at their facility in Seattle, WA .
The primary purpose of the Scientist I, Immunology position is to design and execute in vitro assays towards the development of cell therapy products for autoimmune disease. This role will function within the context of a broader project team related to product development.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Design and execute in vitro assays immunological assays to characterize the function and phenotype of gene-edited immune cell products
Function as a technical lead to develop and execute new assays related to T cell activation, suppression, and tolerance.
Culture and maintain both primary immune cells and various hematopoietic cell types differentiated from pluripotent stem cells.
Work in collaborative environment with other team members to accomplish shared objectives.
Apply scientific rigor to all aspects of the job, including experimental design, troubleshooting, analysis, and interpretation.
Prepare technical reports, experimental summaries, and protocols/SOPs in specific area of research.
Regularly present research progress at group meetings and team meetings across Astellas sites.
Performs other duties as assigned or special projects as needed
- This position will play a critical role in developing next generation cell therapy products in collaboration with other Astellas sites and project teams.
Reports to Senior Scientist
Work within a project team. Collaborates with colleagues within core team and with other teams within the Research group at Universal Cells.
PhD in immunology, cell biology, or related field with 0-3 years of relevant post-graduate experience, or MS with 6+ years, or BS with 8+ years of highly relevant experience.
Strong background in T cell immunology, including direct experience with human immune cell-based assays as demonstrated by strong publication and/or patent record.
Experience with design, execution, and analysis of multi-color flow cytometry panels.
Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills with scientific attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong work ethic with a passion for working in a fast-paced, dynamic and diverse work environment.
Previous industry experience.
Experience with antigen presentation and antigen presenting cell biology
Experience with autoimmune diseases.
