Astellas is announcing a VP Global Early Commercial Development

Purpose of the Position: * Responsible to lead and manage the network of the Global MS NPP Team, which is located in the US, EMEA, Japan and AO Regions * Responsible to 1) deliver quality input into the global product strategies through the Regional MS NPP team in collaboration with the GPSTs and NPTs 2) partner with the Regional business heads to provide updates on pipeline development, and gain alignment on global strategies, and 3) allocate team resources to the different tasks, TAs and GPSTs aligned with the MS priorities, 4) ensure continuous capability and skills development of team members, 4) manages, motivates and hires team members * Responsible to contribute to pipeline and marketing strategy, MS capability building, as member of the MS Management team * Responsible to represent the Voice of Customer in strategic planning process * Demonstrate strong leadership and accountability to ensure teams fully understand and align to the MS strategy, driving a culture of collaboration and high performance.

Core Tasks, Responsibilities and Authority: Team Leadership * Leads the Global MS NPP team delivering the accountabilities set out below * Ensuring function objectives can be met by: o Inspiring and motivating team/colleagues; providing and receiving constructive feedback o Providing available resources (financial, people and other resources) o Organising work and provide appropriate guidance to execute effectively and efficiently o Develop KPIs and track performance of the function * Identifies recruits and develops talent as future leaders; motivates and engages team to aspire to higher performance. * Operates with due consideration for cultural differences in a diverse, international and matrix structure, to deliver strategic and functional objectives. * Ensures that all activities comply with regulatory agencies, public policies/guidelines, and with corporate policies and procedures, and are exhibited in line with the 'Astellas Way' * Ensure adherence to Astellas policies relating to healthcare compliance standards and interactions with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), Healthcare Organisations (HCOs) and Patient Organisations (POs).

Pipeline Planning * Ensure that MS NPP objectives and activities are aligned with MS priorities and budget allocation * Selects and recommends team members for the different MS functional areas, based on the experience, expertise and skill set of the team members (GPST Lead, GPST member, launch Team member, marketing support, etc.) Responsible for commercial input from Regional perspective into development projects through the as well as the in-licensing projects through the GPST. * Responsible for the skill and capability development in the MS NPP organization * Contributes to the overall MS planning and project prioritization by representing the Voice of the Customer

MS Leadership * Accountable, as member of the MS Leadership Team, for maintaining an effective governance structure, driving strategic decision; at all times considering the role of MS in the broader global organisation * As an MS LT member, sponsor and lead on various initiatives, or specific business activities, globally * Undertake supportive and collaborative team performance evaluation; seek to lead and develop future successors for key Executive and Senior Management positions

Budget * Position is responsible for the managing and planning headcount and associated cost, as well as the assigned commercialization budget (typically $5-15M)

Specific Physical Abilities: * Frequent international travel (including overnight stays). Flexible to work such additional hours as reasonably required.

Experience * Extensive experience within the Pharmaceutical industry, including sales and marketing leadership * Broad business experience and proven track records e.g. within Marketing * Multi-Cultural, global leadership experience * Strategic thinker; to understand drivers within Pharma industry and key business challenges * Senior stakeholder management * Experience leading major change and project management programmes and projects. * Proven finance management and business metrics (budgets/forecasting/planning/reporting). * Significant marketing experience at senior management level with strong focus on end customer within continuous improvement culture * Degree level (MBA useful not essential) * Accustomed to working within a cross-functional, international and matrix organisation * Knowledge and strong understanding of, and evidence of compliance with, industry laws and regulations * Proven leadership and team management experience including the commitment to develop and achieve high performance standards * Fluent in written and verbal business English
