Purpose and Scope:
Responsible for AUST transportation management, planning, and execution. including: Full Truckload (FTL), Less-than-Truckload (LTL), Airfreight, and Parcel modes. Manages AUST import operations. Ensures compliance with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) laws and other government regulations. Manages freight bill payable process and third party payment vendor.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for Astellas transportation carrier management. Manages $4,000,000 in transportation freight spend. Manages carrier selection, lane assignment and routing determination. Achieves high service levels at appropriate rates. Monitors carrier performance and takes corrective action as appropriate. Troubleshoots and resolves daily transportation issues as necessary. Leads quarterly business review meetings with Astellas transportation vendors. Develops appropriate reports to effectively monitor and measure carrier performance and make recommendations to positively impact costs and service.
Manages all customs and logistics activities related to importations from overseas through interaction with contacts at US Customs and Border Protection (CPB), FDA, and USDA. Responsible for researching and determining the proper classification of Astellas imports with regard to US Customs entry.
In charge of the Astellas Customs Compliance Program. Collaborates with outside legal counsel to develop strategies and codify results in the Astellas Customs Compliance manual. Performs quarterly import audits, conducts annual reconciliation entry for U.S. Customs of all AUST and APUS imports. Leads and supports CBP compliance initiatives as required.
Manages and continuously improves the freight payment processes. Responsible for the management of the Astellas third party freight payment provider (Value Track.) Collaborates with Astellas Finance and A/P departments to ensure payments are processed accurately and efficiently. Manages relevant systems and data with third party to achieve accurate and timely payments to carriers
Performs analysis and makes recommendations with the objective of continuous improvement in the areas of Supply Chain Management. Formalizes any activities deemed pertinent in support of AUST supply chain management in Standard Operating Procedure format. Maintains SOP documents based on Astellas QA standards. Conducts and supports projects and other duties as assigned.
Manages the Vat Refund process, compiling all the needed documentation and making sure the application is filled out properly and submitted by deadline.
Qualifications
Required
Must have minimum seven years related experience including specific international transportation and US Customs-related activities.
Bachelor’s degree is required. Emphasis in Transportation, Logistics, Distribution, or Supply Chain is a plus.
Experience with SAP is preferred.
Pharmaceutical, GMP and cold chain shipping knowledge a plus.
Must have excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills to deal with all levels of the organization.
