Purpose & Scope:

The Sr. Director, Commercial Division (CD) Engagement and Strategic Planning is a core member of the Omnichannel Operations (OCO) leadership team and leads a team that collaborates with USA commercial business and is responsible for supporting delivery of optimal customer engagement and experience. This role will interface closely with regional and local market leadership and will manage a team that interacts directly with local commercial teams to maximize Astellas' omnichannel offering to the market and the operating processes to make it happen. The scope of this role is US specific but across all locally relevant brands and require a broad mixture of skills such as people leadership, technical comprehension, process details, sr. leader influencing, and soft skills to interact with and influence others.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the successful interface and integration with local/regional commercial teams that allow for robust advisory support to be provided that optimize delivery of customer engagement and experience

  • Accountable for building and scaling frameworks for omnichannel digital product planning, digital product subject expertise provision and resource allocation that can be leveraged by in-market teams

  • Accountable for team leadership, mentoring and development aligned to the relevant topic areas of job performance such as channel goal definition, content creation, mix selection and roll-out strategy, customer journey mapping, campaign calendar and channel orchestration and measurement.

  • Responsible for objective assessment of market performance relative to mixture of metrics including pertinent baselines and other monitoring solutions; introduce and follow upon action plans / performance plans where markets are underperforming.

  • Responsible for ensuring team is aligned closely with all pertinent partners:

  • Strategic brand marketing to ensure ability to coach and advise in line with brand strategy

  • Content Operations to ensure counseling on proper behavior and ensuring seamless orchestration across channels

  • Content Platforms to understand and advise on all technical requirements and other solutions potentially unknown in market for upskilling purposes

  • Change management team to coordinate activity and pace of change

  • Understand the strategic needs of the broader OCO business to support peer leaders within OCO through collaboration and solution-seeking ideation.

  • Seek and suggest opportunities for process improvement and efficiencies within Region and OCO through consultation and counsel with the VP, OCO and relevant Business Partners

  • Key member of the Omnichannel Operations leadership team encouraged to champion overall organizational ambitions, provide critical thought and feedback as contribution to all departmental discussions and evaluations, act as peer coach, and mentor leader to OCO organization overall.

Organizational Context:

Reports to VP, Omnichannel Operations. Peer group: Other OCO CD Lead roles, Director of Strategy & OCO Excellence, Head of Content Production Hub, Content Platforms Orchestration & Enablement Head, Head of Content Operations. Scope: Support to USA organization.

Qualifications:

Required Education: Bachelor's degree

Work experience:

  • 12+ years of experience within pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and/or multinational corporation with global operations and local footprint

  • Significant brand marketing experience including digital strategy, digital marketing, and other multi-channel and content creation roles

  • Extensive campaign, omnichannel and multi-channel experience, building and managing customer engagement-oriented campaigns with documented success

  • Results oriented individual who can see gaps in delivery and knows how to bring solutions that improve effort and operation

  • People leadership experience managing virtual teams

  • Communication and presentation skills including the ability to influence and manage senior leaders and other key stakeholders

Skills, knowledge:

  • Demonstrated leadership in a matrix organization, able to motivate and encourage team members to high performance levels

  • Proven decision-making and strategic thinking skills leading to successful outcomes

  • Demonstrated ability to present complex issues to higher level management and contribute to high level presentations and discussions

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective collaborative relationships with team members, management and internal/external partners

  • Demonstrated ability to be a consistent high level contributor or leader of multiple projects, processes, or functions

  • Ability to lead and support cross-functional teams to deliver against common goals

  • Demonstrated experience influencing without authority

  • Proven track record of success being a high-level independent and team contributor to lead multiple project and processes

  • Experience working with teams / individuals with varied cultural backgrounds & learning styles

  • Willingness to travel (approximately 10-20%)

Preferred:

  • Previous omnichannel design experience within FMCG and/or other content rich marketing industry

  • Previous digital transformation experience and/or other coaching and consulting/advisory type roles enabling others to learn and grow from your experience

Previous use of marketing automation technology and/or other agency experience

  • Advanced degree, with experience in healthcare and/or pharmaceutical marketing

  • Experience within oncology and other specialty brands
