Purpose and Scope:

The role will support the Global Category Lead, Category Managers and Sourcing Leads on major projects and be accountable for all supply-related aspects for given sub-categories and as such, to ensure industry leading value whilst maintaining alignment with business needs. The role will have the following core goals:

  • Work with the Global Category Lead, Category Manager, Sourcing Leads and key Regional/Global Procurement team members to define & execute the Category Strategy

  • Lead and support sourcing activities for spend sub-category, with the goal of achieving cost reductions, while maintaining/improving product quality and supplier service levels

  • Works closely with key stakeholders to develop effective cost reduction strategies and implementation plans

  • Apply leading tools & techniques to segment suppliers for the category, analyse market trends & constraints and deliver a broad range of value chain initiatives to improve performance, reliability, quality and life cycle costs

  • For agreed categories/sub-categories, manage spend and usage patterns in order to deliver high levels of compliance across the business

  • Understanding business objectives and support business stakeholder's strategy and projects. Develop deep understanding of market trends, market access challenges and competitors' trends for each of the assigned projects. Provide procurement processes and insight to drive business decisions and outcomes. Identify savings opportunities, segment and prioritize suppliers, address risk opportunities and facilitate innovation

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  1. Release RFI, RFP and RFQs and negotiate with existing and new suppliers on annual tenders, new business as well as re-negotiations

  2. Undertake data analysis and engage with internal stakeholders in order to generate ideas and opportunities and ensure the Category strategy and plans are aligned to functional and business targets

  3. Proactively anticipate business needs and lead offshore team activities, where required

  4. Measure and track supplier performance against contract and define budgetary impact (day to day supplier performance tracking is with business)

  5. Support, negotiate and develop contract framework including MSA's & SLA templates with key suppliers and ensure full implementation

  6. For all relevant Categories/Sub-Categories, deliver a robust implementation to maximize value and drive spend/contract compliance -- to also include ongoing monitoring and reduction of maverick spend

  7. Develop and implement sourcing practices for applicable spend categories

  8. Drive annual productivity improvements in applicable spend categories

  9. Implement both supplier rationalisation programmes and strategies to develop new sources of supply as appropriate to optimize competition

  10. Monitor the performance of both individual services/products and their category/sub-category. Using this information, continuously assess their sub-category/category strategies and develop solutions to improve performance

Quantitative Dimensions:

  • In Scope Spend: Overall Category spend will be approximately $150m-$300m. Within this value, the Sourcing Manager will be expected to manage sub-category spend in the region of $30m directly

  • Ad-Hoc Management: With the support of Global Category Lead/Category Manager/Sourcing Leads, will interact and possibly lead multi-functional teams

  • Travel: Key area of the role will be to support with, align and influence Global/Regional stakeholders and therefore, global/regional travel will be required (5% or less)

  • Degree required

  • Successful, multi-year track record in Procurement and in-depth understanding of the Category Management process

  • Negotiation skills or with ability to achieve the optimal commercial solutions whilst maintaining credibility and a long-term supplier relationship. Understanding of legal requirements and risk management within procurement projects

  • Sound understanding an experience of managing suppliers including supplier development, drivers of costs, understanding of relevant markets and supply relationship management

  • General working knowledge and competency in Microsoft packages and Source to Pay systems

  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills (multiple complex analyses simultaneously)

  • Good planning/project management skills

  • Strong negotiating skills

  • Strong understanding of Category strategy formulation

  • Evidence of developing innovative commercial solutions using a wide range of value levers

  • Proven track record to drive decision making using analytics

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, look ups)

  • Experience in data visualization, financial modeling, and basic statistics

  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills -- important to build relationships, trust and to become respected by the business teams

  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills Comfortable with conflict

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Strong implementation skills. Able to interpret business requirements and effectively align inputs, outputs and results

  • Makes good and timely decisions that move the organization forward, based upon a mixture of facts, analysis, experience and judgement
