Astellas is announcing a Senior Product Manager - Oncology opportunity.

Purpose & Scope:

The Senior Product Manager, Patient and Caregiver Marketing for zolbetuximab will be a key member of the brand team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to working with market research to develop deep customer insights, creating health literacy focused disease state, biomarker and/or branded patient education materials, supporting patient knowledge of and adherence to zolbetuximab, building a patient focused website and digital media strategy, evaluating patient relationship marketing approaches, and identifying and implementing critical allied health professional (AHP) tactics tailored for patient education. This person is responsible for flawless execution of promotional tactics working in close collaboration with partners, key AHP thought-leaders, including the sales force, other members of the brand team, vendors, and internal stakeholders across functions.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare for the US launch of zolbetuximab in gastric cancer

  2. Implement marketing plans and strategic initiatives to overcome business obstacles, drive market share, & achieve sales targets.

  3. Lead tactical execution of promotional strategy for patient and caregiver marketing initiatives. Collaborate with external and internal partners. Measure effectiveness on an ongoing basis and recommend & implement changes accordingly.

  4. Serve as liaison with sales, operations and sales training in the implementation of patient and caregiver marketing programs to support successful field sales efforts.

  5. Work cross-functionally to build alignment across various internal & external partners to meet overall brand goals.

  6. Ensure that materials and programs are highly effective and compliant by owning projects through the Medical, Legal and Regulatory review process.

  7. Manage outside agencies in the following capacities: project estimate development, time management, and execution of project components, management recommendation and assuring consistency with Astellas goals, direction, and ethics.

  8. Track and manage detailed budget for responsible tactics on a monthly basis

Quantitative Dimensions:

Sales Budget: Directly impacted by the number of critical strategic objectives that are successfully addressed with appropriate and successfully executed tactical solutions

A&P Budget: Directly impacted by the efficient use of resources including: management of vendors, negotiation for services both internally and externally and monitoring of budget.

Organizational Context:

While tactical execution is the primary responsibility of this role, the successful candidate will also use insights to generate ideas in alignment with the strategic plan. This position reports to the Director, Oncology Marketing and does not have any direct reports.



  • Bachelor's degree

  • 8 plus years of related, meaningful experience (i.e., marketing, sales, sales training, market research, etc.).

  • Knowledge of oncology and past patient, caregiver and/or AHP marketing experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to be a high level contributor or leader of a project, process or function.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Validated ability to use analytical skills and critical thinking to diagnosis business issues and incorporate into development or adjustment of marketing plans

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize

  • Demonstrates ability to influence peers and key partners within and outside the organization

  • Ability to present sophisticated issues to higher level management.

  • Ability to travel up to 30%


  • MBA degree

  • Recent experience in managing a drug launch

  • Knowledge of and recent experience in managing patient education around oncology biomarkers/CDx

  • Experience in gastric cancer and/or existing KOL nurse relationships
