Astellas is announcing a Sr. Manager Talent, Performance & Change Management opportunity in Northbrook, IL

Purpose & Scope:

To support the development and implementation of a global Talent and Performance Management strategy to ensure we identify, evaluate, develop, and deploy the critical talent necessary to deliver the business strategy, now and in the future. Researches, designs, and develops best practice processes and tools to build strong leadership pipelines for the future and to drive performance differentiation across the organization to maximize business performance, engagement, retention and sustainability. Centrally manages the design, development, and distribution of all communications related to enterprise wide Succession planning, Talent Planning, and Performance Management. Builds KPIs and leverages our TM and PM systems to extract key data to generate meaningful analysis and insights to share at the enterprise level with top management and the global Human Resources. Supports Global TM and PM Program owners in their enterprise level initiatives and partners with other regional team members to support any Division specific needs as they arise.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Centrally manages the design, development and distribution of all communications related to enterprise wide Succession planning, Talent Planning and Performance Management.
  • Creates, coordinates and distributes all communications sent from CEO, Head of HR or other Talent Tower leadership to key stakeholders with regard to Succession planning, Talent Planning or Performance Management

  • Creates, maintains and updates all key stakeholder distribution lists to ensure seamless delivery of critical communications which can be highly sensitive due to subject matter

  • Plans all enterprise launch communications in coordination with Global TM and PM Program Owners to ensure a consistent professional voice, brand and appearance of communications.

  • Plans all targeted communication efforts as it relates to TM and PM; creates communications and coordinates the distribution.

  • Supports all communication deliverables presented by Global TM/ PM Practice Leader (e.g. Global HR Briefings, GHRLT presentations, Top Management presentations.)

  1. Supports the development and execution of the Global Talent Strategy
  • Supports the creation of the Global Talent Strategy

  • Analyzes key data to create baselines and year over year comparisons to drive continuous improvement efforts

  • Supports the delivery of a fit-for-purpose approach to talent management including talent reviews, succession planning, assessment and development actions.

  1. Supports the development and execution of the Global Performance Management Strategy
  • Supports the definition of the Global Performance Management strategy to create a high-performance culture

  • Develops and documents key policies and playbooks as it relates to Performance management for Senior leadership (Div Heads) as well as our Employee base at large.

  • Sustains a consistent PM process and timeline across the globe to utilize one common platform, process, training and support resources.

  • Implements practices to drive performance differentiation across the organization in a consistent fashion

  1. Manages TM and PM budget
  • Builds and manages the Talent and PM budget in accordance with the guidelines defined by Finance, Procurement and HR Leadership, escalating early to line manager any concerns or issues

Quantitative Dimensions:

As this is a global position, it has global impact with a key responsibility of ensuring that the right communications are provided to the right people considering TM and PM are highly sensitive subjects.

Since this role supports PM and TM globally it will have impact on downstream metrics such as employee engagement, retention and productivity.

Organizational Context:

This role reports to the Head, HR Talent, Performance & Change Management. This in an individual contributor role, however it will serve to provide support to the Global Program owners for TM and PM as well. This role will interact with a variety of regional and global key stakeholders within the Talent Tower and HR.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Relevant degree or professional qualification (I/O Psychology or Human Resources.)

  • Proven experience of developing and deploying leading global Talent Management, Performance Management and Change management practices

  • Proven experience of working in a global matrix organization. Managing cultural sensitivity when leading and managing change in various environment, cultures and organizations.

  • Demonstrated independence, self-motivation, analytical, problem solving skills and initiative to achieve desired outcomes

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization; ability to communicate effectively

  • Fluent in written and verbal business English

Preferred

  • Relevant advanced degree (master's level or PhD.)

  • Pharmaceutical or Life Science industry experience

  • Subject matter expertise in two or more key HR functions e.g. Talent management, Performance management, OE/OD, Change, Learning and Leadership, Compensation, Recruitment to set/embed high standards and build capability in designated area(s) across the organization

  • Experience of working in a business function, outside of Human Resources
