Purpose & Scope of Position:

The Sr. Manager, Reporting & Analytics position is responsible for collaborating with Global FP&A teams along with other stakeholders to identify, develop and implement advanced analytics, reporting solutions and supporting methodologies to facilitate decision-making activities.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • This role will collaborate in projects across the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team, completing discovery analysis, garnering business requirements and implementing appropriate systems and process changes to support key initiatives.

  • Subject matter expert for advance analytics projects, gathering insights and providing direction.

  • Examples of such projects will include the following:

  • Provide points of view on feasibility and timing to implement analytics models for product components

  • Meet regularly with internal and external stakeholders to ensure mutual understanding of the project design, required output and timelines

  • Standardize reporting using BI (Tableau, Qlik Sense) tools, and implementing new technical capabilities to create efficiencies across FP&A

  • Execute analytics projects using R, SQL, or Python to prepare and/or merge internal data assets and perform advanced analysis

  • Contribute to multiple internal data initiatives, including but not limited to: new tool development, automation and machine learning, NLP, simulation, data integration, visualization and informatics dashboards.

  • Ensure quality and consistency of complex analytics deliverables by developing robust processes and capabilities specific to internal company data projects

  • Lead the transition of ownership of advance analytics model from Advanced Informatics and Analysis (AIA) to the FP&A COE team, which will enable the expansion of advanced analytics applications

  • Integration with Microsoft Azure and AWS platforms

  • This position will support the Associate Director, Reporting & Analytics in developing next level insightful analytics and advanced technology capabilities (such as ML, AI, RPA) to answer key business questions.

  • This role has important partnerships with the FP&A team, Advanced Informatics and Analysis team and the Operational Improvement and Reporting Excellence team. It interacts regularly with senior leaders in the FP&A organization.

Organizational Context

  • The primary partners of this role are the team members of the FP&A and Center of Excellence towers. This role will work with the operational teams across the enterprise to integrate operational and financial planning.

  • This position is part of the COE team that provides services to all the business units in Astellas.

  • This position reports to the Associate Director, Reporting & Analytics.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or Data Science or related discipline

  • 2+ years of financial analytics and/or data science experience, preferably in a multi-national, multi-currency environment

  • Poise, confidence, adaptability and effective influencing skills needed for interacting with Astellas leaders in challenging situations.

  • Recent experience and demonstrated aptitude leveraging enterprise-grade analytics / reporting solutions

  • Demonstrated initiative and creativity in pioneering new approaches and ways of working

  • Effective interpersonal skills and with ability to operate among diverse cultures

  • Strong teamwork and partner behaviors

  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills in English

  • Executing analysis using SQL, R / Python, or other statistical programming languages and BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik Sense). Prepare data, create new variables, and perform statistical testing

  • Working knowledge of various statistical modeling techniques and their application within

  • complex analytical projects, e.g., regression modeling, ROI, portfolio attrition.

Preferred

  • Master’s in Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or Data Science or related discipline

  • MBA

  • Experience successfully working in a geographically distributed team

  • Experience supporting pharma in a finance or planning role strongly preferred

  • Experience improving financial planning and reporting activities
