Purpose & Scope:

The Senior Manager Advanced Analytics Solutions, Advanced Informatics and Analytics (AIA) is responsible for recommending, designing and implementing cloud-based data and analytics solutions for Astellas current and future digital healthcare information and AIA scope. This role assists with implementing the information management strategy to enable Astellas' aspirations towards a world-class real-world informatics AIA function supporting the varied needs across all major geographies and functions.

Success in the role requires staying current with the latest cloud-based technologies, analytics, monitoring and audit standards, security and privacy policies and business applications in real-world informatics (data, privacy, and evidence). The role is meant to serve as a subject matter professional in the best approaches for cloud-based analytics support and distributed computing in support of analytics and AIA

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Identify areas for improvement with current analytics tool sets and propose future state to support AIA use cases, analytics and regulations.

  • Improving the delivery of large complex projects by implementing standard processes, tools, and templates that will be used consistently across AIA

  • Implement scripts to support full automation of systems.

  • Implement, document and maintain security controls for analytic tools and data access.

  • Participate in design and architecture review meetings with AIA Management, IS and application vendors.

  • Provide updates on the status of project tasks and deliverables

  • Participate in several concurrent projects in Advanced Analytics Solutions for the AIA function in a fast-paced environment

  • Ensure the AIA Analytics environments are running at an optimal state and quickly resolve any technical issues.

  • Participate in process improvements initiatives involving business areas.

  • Collaborate with Assistant Director Advanced Analytics Solutions to identify required technology architecture needs to design and implement a solution delivering near-term impact and aligned with long term strategies

  • Implement security requirements, metadata standards, data quality and testing procedures for the data lake/warehouse consistent with analytic and AIA best practice

  • Implement improvements, enhancements or corrections to aid in the success of ongoing projects

  • Training end users on appropriate systems, governance and information management

  • Troubleshoot issues with applications, works with appropriate resources to resolve them

  • Continually learn new tools and techniques to support AIA and storing and accessing information consistent with the AIA mission

Organizational Context:

This role reports into Assistant Director Advanced Analytics Solutions

Qualifications: Required

  • 5+ years of Pharm experience or related regulated industry

  • BS or MS in Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field

  • Experience in deploying, monitoring and performance tuning high availability, multi-zone and multi-region enterprise environments.

  • 1+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services related to analytics, compute, storage, deployment and management, administration and automation technologies.

  • Experience Supporting Data integration and Security aspects for analytics

  • Experience translating data and privacy regulations into security and controls.

  • Experience with advanced analytics and business intelligence technology's

  • Experience contributing to architecture and design of enterprise systems

  • Expertise in implementing analytic tools.

  • Hands-on experience in DevOps automation and tools (Preferred Chef, Puppet and Shell Scripts)

  • Experience with code versioning tools supporting DevOps/AppDev

  • Thorough understanding of networking fundamentals and impact on analytic solutions.

  • Knowledge on Software Development Lifecycle Methodology (SDLC)

  • Experience in the development of business process scripts and/or hands-on experience with the configuration of business applications

  • Candidates must understand commercial/business flow in the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Experience managing enterprise applications

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees including senior management

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to details, and the ability to multi-task.

  • Experience training end-users

  • Experience managing vendors and holding them accountable to timelines and deliverables

  • Excellent organizational, planning and project management skills and ability to effectively manage cross-functional projects

  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic fast- paced environment, with minimal supervision.

Qualifications: Preferred

  • AWS Certification or equivalent

  • Experience managing enterprise applications.

  • Cross-cultural project management and communication experience

  • Working Knowledge of the various AWS services like VPC, Direct Connect, VPN, Routing tables, subnets, Route 53, EC2, S3, RDS, security groups

  • Familiarity of Real-World Data and the regulations around RWI analytics and data

  • Experience in AWS IAM security policies and building private AMI's
