Purpose and Scope:

The Senior Consumer Marketing Manager Oncology for XTANDI will be a key member to the brand team with responsibility for building and executing the marketing strategy across the patient journey.

Core responsibilities will include identifying relevant patient insights, creating disease and/or branded patient awareness, education, and adherence strategies, and integrated campaign and communication plan with stakeholders in patient advocacy, patient experience, and public relations to support the advanced Prostate Cancer and XTANDI patient/caregiver experience.

This person will be responsible for implementing all tactical programs in support of the overall strategy. This includes but not limited to unbranded/branded digital properties, 360 media plans, print materials, evaluating patient relationship marketing approaches, and tactics that foster interaction between patients and allied health care professionals (AHP).

This person will work in close collaboration with internal and external partners, including the commercial partner Pfizer, the sales force, other members of the brand team, vendors, and multiple internal stakeholders across functions.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Leads the development of innovative solutions for building education and awareness, as well as improving the advanced prostate cancer and XTANDI patient/caregiver experience.

  • Utilize multiple sources of information (market research, advisory boards, patient ambassadors, stakeholder interactions) to understand the prostate cancer market, identify gaps, and provide solutions to develop strategies and tactical plans.

  • Stay current on evolving media trends, technology platforms and opportunities that exist in the Health and Pharma space to strengthen the patient experience.

  • Develop and deliver presentations to a range of internal audiences including senior leadership to gain alignment on strategic and tactical plans and to secure financial resources.

  • Manage the brand's commercial presence at several patient-focused meetings and larger conferences such as Oncology Nursing Society (ONS).

  • Serve as liaison with sales, operations and sales training in the implementation of patient and AHP marketing programs to support successful field sales efforts.

  • Liaison with patient centricity, patient experience, public relations and commercialization partner to ensure strategic alignment.

  • Ensure that materials and programs are highly effective and compliant by owning projects through the Medical, Legal and Regulatory review process.

  • Manage outside agencies in the following capacities: project development and budget, time management, execution of project components, management recommendation and assuring consistency with Astellas goals, direction, and ethics.

  • Track and manage detailed budget for responsible tactics.

  • Ensure all work is completed in an ethical and compliant manner.

  • Implement other initiatives as assigned.

Quantitative Dimensions:

  • Sales Budget: Directly impacted by the number of critical strategic objectives that are successfully addressed with appropriate and successfully executed tactical solutions

  • A and P Budget: Directly impacted by the efficient use of resources including: management of vendors, negotiation for services both internally and externally and monitoring of budget.

Organizational Context:

The successful candidate will lead the strategic and tactical patient marketing plan by leveraging insights and building successful relationships and meaningful collaboration across the organization. This position reports to the Associate Director, Oncology Marketing. This position will not have any direct reports.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelors degree

  • 8 plus years of related, relevant experience (i.e., marketing, sales, market research, etc.).

  • Previous experience working with print /digital media/360 integrated campaigns

  • Oncology experience and/or past patient and/or AHP marketing experience

  • Demonstrated ability to be a high level contributor or leader of a project, process or function.

  • Proven ability to use analytical skills and critical thinking to diagnosis business issues and incorporate into development or adjustment of marketing plans

  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to present complex issues to higher level management.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Demonstrates ability to influence peers and key stakeholders within and outside the organization

  • Ability to travel up to 30%

Preferred

  • MBA degree

  • Knowledge of and recent experience in launching a drug
