Purpose & Scope:
Marketing Intelligence Manager, Medical Specialties is part of the Insights & Analytics team which is responsible for supporting their customers make smarter business decisions by delivering timely, strategic, and meaningful data-driven insights to maximize commercial success.
Responsible for providing primary and secondary market research and analysis to support decision making for assigned brand(s). This position must optimally plan, implement, and communicate impactful results for all market research projects!
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Develops annual market research plan for assigned brands. Proposes, plans, designs, and conducts primary market research, both qualitative and quantitative, in support of existing and pre-launch products within the therapeutic category. Present results to brand team, ensuring knowledge is communicated clearly and effectively.
Provides expertise as data consultant on all secondary resources (e.g., IQVIA, Symphony, etc) and identifies uses of each resource, such as conducting product sales tracking, market trend analysis and performance reports. Effectively utilizes secondary market research information, integrating secondary and primary information to provide detailed analyses of various market-related issues inclusive of detailing activity, promotion spending, share-of-voice, and measurement of co-promotional activities.
Generation of customer insights providing clear and measurable strategic guidance to our customers delivered through the integration of team expertise and capabilities
Plays a key role in brand planning & mid-term planning exercises, developing and communicating situation analysis for assigned brand.
Develops requests for proposals, solicits competitive bids, awards contracts to outside agencies; leads the activities of the market research agencies and reviews their performance against proposal and budget.
In a proactive manner, works closely with assigned brand team to explore and define issues and opportunities within existing and potential markets. Develops annual market research plans.
The Market Intelligence Manager is responsible for developing and executing the annual market research plan for the assigned brand(s).
The annual research budget will exceed $500K for most brands. Insights delivered by the Manager support decision-making for Astellas brands, typically in excess of $100 million in annual revenues.
- Manager is an individual contributor, reporting to the Senior Business Insights Manager (MSBU).
Must have a minimum of 5 years successful experience in the pharmaceutical or other related healthcare field in the area of market research and analysis. Strong, validated experience in qualitative and quantitative methodologies is required.
Ability to understand, translate and integrate multiple data sources (across primary and secondary data sources) into clear and impactful insights to drive decision-making
Extensive computer proficiency with desktop software in a Windows environment required: Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Power Point required.
Excellent skills are required in the following areas: written and verbal communication, accuracy and initiative.
Advanced degree (MBA/MS)
Experience with Global operating structures
