Astellas is announcing a Global Commercial Data & Analytics Architect opportunity in Northbrook, IL. Purpose & Scope of Position: Lead the Architecture function for Data & Analytics platforms and plan the alignment of data, systems, information and technology with business strategies, processes and organization with goals to meet Commercial business and IS objectives and significantly simplify the landscape. Lead in collaboration with the DT architecture team and Commercial IS application leadership the definition and management of the required IS architecture policies, principles and standards to enable the Commercial IS strategy. Implement the Enterprise Architecture governance processes by which new solutions for the Commercial divisions can be verified and provide guidance to ensure that new solutions are fit for purpose and reuse assets available to the company as best as possible. Accountable for Commercial Data & Analytics related technologies, such as Qlikview, Qlik Sense, AWS, Azure, Redshift, SQL Data Warehouse, TalenD, Reltio, Collibra, R, SAS, DataIku and other Data & Analytics technologies. Essential Job Responsibilities: * Manage the overall Data & Analytics architecture by maintaining a holistic, long-term view of all systems and technologies leading to more informed choices and decisions. This includes keeping an up to date view of the plans for changes in each major component and monitoring the life-cycle of technologies in order to advise on the appropriate time to introduce new versions and replacements. * Conduct strategic planning activities for the Commercial Data & Analytics and associated landscape and communicate the outcomes in terms of future-state architectures, strategies and roadmaps. This will provide direction for Commercial IS, for business stakeholders and Astellas overall and will lead to simplification of the data & systems landscape. * Ensure that future-state architectures and roadmaps are complete, consistent and feasible. * Ensure IS workstreams are aligned with the architecture and adhere to appropriate standards, to ensure all aspects of the technology landscape (e.g. applications, data, technology etc.) work together effectively and that project and operational costs are minimized. * Provide expert IS consultancy and advice to IS and the Commercial business units to enable the correct choice and appropriate design of IS solutions. * Lead the Data & Analytics architecture function and the development of an effective team. This includes setting strategic direction and responsibility for people, budget, and outcomes. * Promote architecture disciplines through the implementation of effective standards and governance processes. This will have the aim of maximizing the re-use of application systems and shared services, and reducing time and risks in project delivery * Drive strategic partnership with External Service Providers (ESPs) to ensure in Architecture governance, adoption of best practice and innovation. Accountable for the architectural ownership of the following application and cloud platform related technologies: * Data Integration * Data Master and Reference mgt * Data Warehouse * Business Intelligence * Integration with SFDC, Veeva CRM and other Commercial apps * Integration with the Adobe Marketing Technology Suite * Provide overall technology leadership for Data & Analytics and maintain strong working relationships and knowledge sharing with the Application Architecture function (AA), infrastructure (AIC) function and other IS teams Required Qualifications: * BA/BS degree * Ability to lead and facilitate the planning and development of strategic architecture deliverables * Solution planning and design skills from conceptual and architecture level to detailed design. * A good working knowledge and practice of Enterprise architecture disciplines across business, system and information layers with focus Commercial Data & Analytics Applications and technologies. * Ability to evaluate technologies and assess their potential value to the business * Solid understanding of application and data platforms and how they are used effectively in solution designs * Good understanding of core infrastructure services and how they are used effectively in solution designs. * Good understanding of information security disciplines, technologies and methods of threat and risk reduction. * Ability to plan and manage stakeholder engagement * Familiarity with System Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC) frameworks and processes. * Practical experience of project management methodologies and project management techniques. * Significant experience in the applied use of IS with a focus on Commercial Data & Analytics Applications and related technologies in business situations including roles as a Solutions Architect * Experience of developing or helping to develop target architectures and roadmaps which have been shown to set and influence IS and business direction * Experience of identifying and selecting IS solutions to business problems including Commercial of the Shelf (COTS), SaaS and ERP applications with proven experience with Commercial Data & Analytics and Cloud solutions. * Experience of Architecture governance including participation in design authorities, setting and communicating IT standards, maintaining shared knowledge repositories etc. * Experience of working in an international environment * Supplier management experience including software vendors, cloud vendors and outsourced service providers Preferred Qualifications: * M.S. in Statistics or Economics or other quantitative discipline is preferred, or MBA with Marketing Analytics/Decision Science Concentration * Experience of Enterprise Architecture concepts and frameworks including TOGAF and Zachman or similar TOGAF certification or similar an advantage * Knowledge of IT Infrastructure library (ITIL) principles and practices. Some service delivery experiences an advantage. * Experience in Computer system validation as practiced in the pharmaceutical industry an advantage * Familiarity with EA tools and repositories, and their usage for strategic level/EA level modelling and impact analysis an advantage * Experience of systems analysis, design and development with experience in a Data & Analytics solution architect role an advantage * Experience of working in the Pharmaceutical industry or a related industry that has strong regulatory compliance requirements *LI-CH1 Equal Opportunity Employer Minorities/Women/Protected Veterans/Disabled Category Information Technology/Systems
