Purpose & Scope:

The Director level Regional Process Owner -- Record to Report (RPO-R2R) is accountable for driving process improvements and compliance regionally within R2R process areas across GBS, in alignment with applicable JSOX controls. This includes design of end-to-end transaction processes, linking to related service delivery from captive and outsourced centers, and providing input on decisions relating to enabling technologies.

This role will monitor R2R delivery activities to ensure compliance with approved processes, drive further process improvements and customer satisfaction and provide strategic insight.

The RPO-R2R will act as a subject matter expert in R2R global processes, systems, and Finance Master Data, including any localizations required for tax or regulatory purposes as well as related technology implemented to use such processes.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Execute End-to-End Process Vision

  • Implement the vision and strategy for end-to end record to report (RTR) process in the Americas and operational goals, objectives, and specialized continuous improvement projects in the Americas

  • Provide process, systems, and master data expertise to operational / service delivery teams to improve existing processes and support new initiatives

  • Recognized as the regional owner of the RTR processes and the related Finance Master Data

Monitor Process Performance and Identify Opportunities

  • Review end-to-end process performance, including Finance Master Data, and identify optimization opportunities to meet business demand

  • Work alongside the Service Management function to operationalize applicable reporting and analytics to measure the efficacy and efficiency of end-to-end process

  • Collaborate with Regional and Global Delivery Leads to optimize the service delivery model

  • Consult on major programs (e.g. Apple, Apple +, acquisition integration)

Support Process Improvement Opportunities

  • Provide input on a prioritized pipeline of process related improvements and opportunities in the Americas

  • Support the development of business cases to quantify the cost and value of process opportunities

Drive Process Improvements

  • Drive the deployment and adoption of a standard end to end process in the Americas

  • Implement key outcomes related to the process, including target setting, process performance, and financial management

  • Consult on major process redesign efforts and be accountable for their successful implementation

Promote Process-Oriented Culture

  • Collaborate with corporate functions, data owners / stewards, and peers to ensure consistency and alignment across policy, process, and data

  • Drive clarity of the process and ownership through developing, updating, and maintaining the definition of the process, documentation of the process, relevant policies and any approved deviations, including RACI, key controls and related Master Data

  • Collaborate with Business Partners (e.g., Affiliates, HQ, Service Delivery Operations) to ensure resources are properly trained on processes, policies, and systems

Compliance

  • Embed compliance culture across all areas of the business, ensuring Integrity in Action is actively applied in all initiatives

  • Ensure Finance Function(s) strictly adopt a culture of ethics and compliance, leading by example, and appropriately challenging non-compliance

  • Ensure adherence to Astellas policies relating to Ethics and Compliance standards and interactions with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), Healthcare Organizations (HCOs), and Patient Organizations (POs)

  • Ensure adherence to applicable external regulatory and statutory requirements, as well as internal policies and JSOX controls

  • Support the investigation and resolution of any audit findings

Qualifications: Required

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Specialization like six sigma or practical experience in process improvement

  • Experienced, credible leader, demonstrable ability to manage and influence key partners

  • Proven knowledge of IFRS, along with demonstrated ability to analyze financial information and provide solutions to issues.

  • Familiar with Financial Systems as they apply to R2R and Finance, specifically SAP S/4 HANA, and with automation/artificial intelligence tools like robotic process automation, chatbots, natural language generation and machine learning

  • Experienced in identifying and implementing process improvement for a regional or global group within a global enterprise

  • Experienced, credible leader, demonstrable ability to lead a team and ability to implement change with indirectly managed resources.

  • Ability to work both individually and within a team environment, build positive relationships and maintain rapport with peers, Corporate Finance and Executive teams.

  • Prior experience with Financial Systems, specifically SAP S/4 HANA, as well as MS Office Suite of programs.

  • Ability to drive process improvements in a large complex organization preferably with experience operating in global business services or cross-functional service center.

  • Strong focus on operational excellence, lean process management, change management expertise and leadership

  • Excellent oral and written communication and proven effective communication capabilities with all levels of Finance personnel

Qualifications: Preferred

  • Advanced professional certification or MBA or MS in Finance is preferred.
