Purpose and Scope:
Completes all month-end accounting activities, expense budgets/forecasts, headcount planning, and control implementation for Marketing & Sales departments.
Provides financial support to all levels of US Marketing & Sales organization, as it relates to expense management and financial reporting
Ensures the accuracy of US Marketing & Sales expenses
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Manages completion of US Marketing & Sales Finance and Accounting activities, including but not limited to:
Completes month-end accounting closes
Prepares actual versus budget / forecast variance analysis
Creates ad hoc reports as needed by Commercial Finance and M&S Management
Liaises between business units and Finance for expense related activities
Completes formal monthly managerial and statutory variance reports for Finance and M&S Management
Supports Procure to Pay process
Works with external auditors during review periods
Provides financial support to all levels of US Marketing & Sales organization
Creates and distributes operating statements.
Presents franchise-level financial results to US Marketing & Sales senior leadership and provides guidance with regards to current spending patterns
Partners with budget managers to provide reports and data needed to effectively and efficiently manage operating expense budgets
Educates budget owners on financial accrual and expense management processes
Provides project management budget support to select budget owners
Coordinates and completes annual US Marketing & Sales budget, Mid-Term Plan forecasts and quarterly forecasts
Updates forecast models based upon budget owner and management input
Compiles and presents forecasts to US Marketing & Sales leadership and Commercial Finance leadership
Facilitates expense inputs into Astellas financial planning software
Completes US Marketing & Sales headcount reconciliation and planning
Ensures proper recording and management of multiple expense categories, including but not limited to advertising & promotion, sales force, salary and administrative expenses through partnering w/ Marketing, Accounting, and Finance
Develops and directs the implementation of processes that adhere to appropriate corporate policies, IFRS, and J-SOX regulations.
Facilitates P&L budget management in US Marketing & Sales department with primary focus on operating expenses and secondary focus on operating income.
Interfaces with external vendors in relation to Procure to Pay process support and month-end accounting closes
Ensures all financials are compliant to Astellas' corporate policies, IFRS and J-Sox regulations
Commercial Finance Associate Manager reports to the Associate Director, Commercial Finance US Expenses
Bachelor's Degree required
5+ years finance or accounting experience required
Strong Excel and Microsoft PC software proficiency
Excellent skills in the following areas: organization, written and verbal communication, accuracy, and personal initiative
Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred
ERP system experience (SAP/BPC) or a comparable software
