Astellas is announcing a Associate Director, Performance Management Lead opportunity in Northbrook, IL
Purpose & Scope:
To design and implement a global Performance Management strategy, process, and system to ensure managers and employees across Astellas are able to set clear and aligned objectives, manage performance throughout the year, differentiate performance ratings, and evaluate employees fairly and comprehensively. Institutes best practice approaches, tools, and systems to drive effective performance management across the company to maximize business performance, engagement, retention, and sustainability. Continuously improves the PM process in alignment with top management philosophy and business needs.
Implements a common global Performance management strategy and process
Implements and sustains a common global performance management process
Sets all global timelines year over year for all phases of Performance Management
Direct all centralized communications for each phase of Performance Management: Objective Setting, Mid Year Reviews and Calibration and YE reviews
Develop, design and deliver best practice training in performance management- both the process and the system for Employees and Managers
Prepares HRBPs for each phase in the cycle with advanced communication and training so that they can meet the needs of the business
Develops and utilizes key data analytics to baseline, set course for improvements and track progress against key KPIs regarding performance management.
Reviews calibration statistics to ensure rating bias is monitored and eliminated to ensure fairness in rating outcomes
Monitors and reports on completion statistics to drive completion of YE reviews
Drives continuous improvement and change efforts associated with Performance Management process
Makes YOY improvements to the process, tools, systems, communications & training based upon feedback from the business, HR and KPIs
Drives change in alignment with changes made to Reward or Corporate Planning Initiatives
Conducts external best practice research to support continuous improvement initiatives
Manages Executive Leadership and Division Head PM Process
Designs overall PM process for senior leaders
Oversees process throughout the year and supports with targeted comms and training for Leaders and HRBPs.
Influences overall employee engagement and retention
Impacts overall productivity through providing clear alignment between organizational and individual objectives
This role reports to the Head, HR Talent, Performance & Change Management. The role is an individual contributor role but has informal responsibility to oversee and direct some activities of the Regional TM/ PM Program Owners and Regional TM/PM Specialists. This role must also interact and partner effectively with our Reward COE.
Relevant degree or professional qualification (I/O Psychology or Human Resources.)
Experience in designing, developing and deploying Performance Management strategy and best practices for organizations
Proven experience of leading in a global matrix organization
Understanding of Performance Management systems
Managing cultural sensitivity when leading and managing change in various environment, cultures and organizations.
Working knowledge of applicable employment laws, labor regulations and other legal requirements related to managing performance in organizations
Demonstrated independence, self-motivation, analytical, problem solving skills and initiative to achieve desired outcomes
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization; ability to communicate effectively
Fluent in written and verbal business English
Relevant advanced degree (Masters level or PhD.)
Pharmaceutical or Life Science industry experience
Subject matter expertise in two or more key HR functions e.g. Talent management, Performance management, Organizational Effectiveness, Organization Design, Change, Learning and Leadership, Compensation, Recruitment to set/embed high standards and build capability in designated area(s) across the organization
Experience of working in a business function, outside of Human Resources
