Purpose & Scope of Position:
The Associate Director, IS Business Partner, Corporate – Human Resources, leads the development of the technology strategies related to Corporate Functions including Finance, HR, Procurement, Ethics & Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, Transformation Office, Corporate Advocacy, and others as needed. This role leads the delivery of technology projects and services to Corporate Functions including Finance, HR, Procurement, Ethics & Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, Transformation Office, Corporate Advocacy, and others as needed. Ensure that solutions delivered are consistent with needs of Corporate Functions and meet requirements. This position also leads the delivery of large scale IS projects spanning multiple Corporate Functions. The Associate Director, IS Business Partner, Corporate – Human Resources, is accountable for alignment of Corporate Functions and internal/external delivery teams to ensure that demand is appropriately identified and prioritized for Corporate Functions. This position is accountable for roadmaps and project portfolios defining future needs of Corporate Functions. This position is responsible for ongoing improvements to the effectiveness and efficiency of Business Partnering.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Conduct strategic planning activities for Corporate Functions as needed, including Legal, Transformation Office, Corporate Advocacy and others as needed.
Ensure Corporate Function Analytics roadmaps are complete, consistent, feasible, are aligned with related application roadmaps in IT and with Corporate Function plans as appropriate.
Accountable for aligning IS workstreams with the enterprise architecture and technology standards to ensure all aspects of the technology landscape (e.g. applications, data, technology etc.) work together effectively and that project and operational costs are minimized.
Provide expert IS consultancy and advice to IS and the Corporate Functions to enable the correct choice and appropriate design of IS solutions.
Lead the definition and delivery of technology solutions. This includes setting strategic direction and responsibility for budget, priorities, delivery, and outcomes.
Maximize the re-use of application systems and shared services to reduce cost, time, and risks associated with project delivery.
Coordinate with External Service Providers (ESPs) to deliver solutions, drive adoption of best practices, and encourage innovation.
Contribute to ongoing improvements within IS not limited to Business Partnering practices in CCP.
Ensure that Business Functions understand and support IT initiatives as appropriate and that the IT function is responsive to feedback from internal customers.
Turn Business Strategy into clearly directed, beneficial and cost-effective IT projects ready to start implementation.
Review and propose on trends and projects to be pursued within the functional area.
Ensure appropriate technical and managerial Go/No Go review of project proposals including the availability of cost/benefit/risk analyses (“business cases”) and consistency with IT-Governance rules regarding decision-making.
Accountable for the definition of appropriate project plans for implementation addressing organizational, technical, process, change management and training perspectives when introducing new applications.
Works closely with SMEs in IS and Corporate Functions to define processes that appropriate leverage technology and IS capabilities.
Oversee the appropriate selection of solutions and third parties required to support changes identified.
Leverage existing IS capabilities to support the business to maximize the benefits delivered from project investment.
Ensure that initiatives generated by business functions are in line with global best practices
Develop the personal network required to enable successful collaboration internally and externally in support of departmental objectives:
Build effective and productive working relations with colleagues in relevant functions within Astellas HQ, Affiliates, plus other IS-BP groups and peers across Astellas Global organization.
Build effective and productive working relations with external peers and organizations to share knowledge and keep abreast of developments and practices.
Undertake personal development activities to ensure that the core tasks and responsibilities of this role continue to be met as the role evolves in line with business change.

Required Qualifications:
Must have a bachelor’s degree in IT or related field
Experience overseeing the work of other employees, contractors, or service providers.
Experience coaching and mentoring junior staff.
Pharma sector experience with strong customer focus; in multi-disciplinary, matrix and cross-cultural settings.
Track-record of leading planning process with excellent organizational and collaboration skills
Robust experience in an IT Department, including international and multi-national business.
Proven experience operating in a global role.
Experience of managing Senior non-IT Stakeholders in Account Management relationships, representing the needs of the business function and the IT department.
Experience of strategic planning (Roadmaps) and of aligning IT strategies with business goals.
Experience of working through different stages of the systems development life cycle, including user requirements gathering and blueprinting.
Sound knowledge of process mapping, requirements gathering, and analysis techniques.
Ability to act and react with a customer focus first and foremost and to talk the (business) language of the customer.
Able to work flexibly to adapt to a wide range of different types of internal customers.
Multi-tasking – it is essential that this person can manage the complexity associated with an HQ role in a global Pharma company.
Flexibility and mental agility necessary to solve complex problems and develop innovative solutions to business issues.
Data literate.
Proven compliance expertise; to understand and comply with industry laws and relevant regulations.
Coaching and collaboration skills to interact with all levels of personnel to achieve shared goals.
Demonstrable examples of ability to develop, coach and enable high performance teams and proactively promote best practice and knowledge sharing.
Proven ability to influence, (appropriately) challenge and engage diverse senior stakeholders.
Degree education and/or proven equivalent expertise in IS-BP environment.
Knowledge of pharmaceutical business and related business processes to the specific IS-BP role.
Strong time management skills with the ability to work with minimal or no supervision.
High level of communication skills and knowledge of English (verbal and written).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience of working with a wide variety of Business systems relevant to the function supported International or Regional/Corporate HQ environment experience preferred but not essential.
