Purpose & Scope of Position:

The Associate Director, FP&A COE, is responsible for driving implementation and operations of Anaplan to support global planning for Astellas. They will oversee and support financial controls of Anaplan for the FP&A center of excellence team.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for Anaplan planning system and day to day operation.

  • Facilitate and drive a globally consistent end-to-end system process execution with defined roles, responsibilities, outputs, and expectations

  • Works with IS, GBS, finance business partners and COE process, delivery and reporting teams to implement and operate Anaplan

  • Accountable for financial controls for Anaplan system

  • Align Anaplan operations with enterprise planning requirements

  • Collaborate with operational teams across Astellas to integrate operational and financial planning.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Undergraduate degree (or international equivalent) with emphasis in Finance or Accounting or Computer Science (or related data analysis degree)

  • 7+ years of financial analysis and / or accounting experience, preferably in a multi-national, multi-currency environment

  • Minimum of 5+ years analysis and systems experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry and 3 years modeling experience

  • 3+ years’ experience managing and coaching staff

  • Pharma Finance experience a plus

  • Poise, confidence, adaptability, and effective influencing skills needed for interacting with Astellas leaders in challenging situations.

  • Recent experience and demonstrated aptitude leveraging enterprise-grade data / reporting systems

  • Demonstrated initiative and creativity in pioneering new approaches and ways of working

  • Effective interpersonal skills and with ability to operate among diverse cultures

  • Strong teamwork and partner behaviors

  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills in English

  • History of developing high achieving staff

  • Experience with Anaplan

  • Working knowledge of various statistical modeling techniques and their application within

  • complex analytical projects, e.g., regression modeling, ROI, portfolio attrition.

Preferred:

  • CPA, CA, CMA, CIMA, CGMA, ACMA or international equivalent

  • MBA

  • Experience successfully working in a geographically distributed team

  • Experience supporting pharma in a finance or planning role strongly preferred

  • Experience with systems like SAP, Tableau, Qlik and DataIku a plus

  • Experience improving financial planning and reporting activities
