Astellas is announcing an Assistant Director Contracts & Pricing Strategy Analysis opportunity in Northbrook, IL

Purpose & Scope:

Assistant Director C&P Strategy Analysis is responsible for developing, analyzing, and implementing strategic contracting programs for Sales and Marketing area. This entails leading cross functional contracting initiatives, develop and provide key strategic recommendations to drive achievement of key business goals, creating, monitoring, and auditing contract databases as well as analyzing contract performance and compliance. It requires a high standard of analytical skill, detail orientation, and financial analysis. Highly motivated self-starter with effective interpersonal skills to work through problems with both internal customers (sales reps, regional managers, Health Systems account managers) and external customers are required. Position requires effective leadership and presentation skills.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop financial models to support contract negotiations for commercial and government customers.

  • Perform extensive analysis of sales, discounts and performance by channel (Institutional, Managed Care, Trade, and Government) to, identify and develop pricing strategies to optimize and maximize revenue opportunities.

  • Develop models that merge contract database with third party data to produce performance monitoring dashboards

  • Creates executive summary highlighting key performance indicators for each contracting program and provide updates to Sr. leadership.

  • Partner with IT to ensure integrity of database through periodic audits. Develop procedure around audit methodology and timing.

  • Maintain database of contract offers to strategic accounts and analyzes incremental sales impact.

  • Track market share performance of strategic accounts and other accounts that they influence assure performance aligns with contracting strategy

  • Support the creation of contract proposals by the analysis of volume potential under multiple scenarios. Mine data provided by customer or internal data to establish base case and projected upside cases.

  • Partner with key business leaders to develop strategic performance and effectiveness metrics, dashboards and performance monitoring to support business decisions

  • Participate in strategy sessions with product marketing and Astellas business partners on new contracting initiatives. Develop reporting capability to track performance of new programs.

  • Provide informative quarterly performance business review presentations for leadership and relevant business partners

  • Prepare and analyze forecast by channel and product, align assumptions with finance, support all variances to previous forecast.

  • Prepare accurate quarterly accruals and align with finance, support assumptions, lead and pass all financial and JSox quarterly audits.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations to Sr. leaders using detailed analysis and summarizing information into a concise presentation.

  • Lead cross-functional meetings to resolve opportunities and move ideas forward.

  • Manage projects/relationships with vendors and business partners ensuring goals, timelines, and budgets are met

  • Partner with HS Strategy to provide strategic analysis and support Policy and Government affairs

  • Additional duties as needed

Quantitative Dimensions:

  • Perform analysis of RAR and contract changes for each product. Analyze trends, highlights changes, and researches underlying causes. Meet with cross functional teams at month-end to present summary of contract changes and projection of month end performance and accrual.

  • Direct work with the Health Systems Account Managers as well as field sales assisting with financial deal analysis input for eventual review by the Strategic Pricing Committee.

  • Serve as Strategic Pricing Committee secretary responsible for documenting committee decisions and publishing minutes of each meeting.

Organizational Context:

  • Individual contributor role

  • Reports directly to the Sr. Director of Contracts and Pricing

Qualifications:

Required

  • BA/BS degree

  • 8+ years relevant pharmaceutical industry experience

  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Products and software (e.g. Powerpoint, Excel)

  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation skills. Ability to optimally communicate issues verbally and in writing in a clear and understandable manner. Ability to encourage trust and confidence through effective communication and social skills.

  • Customer service dedication, orientation to detail, ability to interact across all levels of management

  • Critical thinking, creativity and capacity to assist others in developing ideas and business opportunities

  • Strong work ethic and ability to produce high quality work under deadline pressures
