Mitobridge is an affiliate of Astellas. At Mitobridge, we are passionate about developing novel therapeutics that improve mitochondrial function to treat devastating human diseases. Mitochondrial dysfunction is increasingly linked to disease pathologies and we believe that 'normalizing' mitochondrial function can ameliorate or reverse disease states.

Astellas is announcing a Director, Mitochondrial Programs opportunity at their Mitobridge site in Cambridge, MA.

Purpose:

To combat mitochondrial diseases, Mitobridge (An Astellas Company) has built a focused portfolio of advanced drug candidates. As we continue to move our assets through preclinical and clinical development, we are seeking an individual that will support effective execution of project plans by working closely with our internal R&D and external CROs and collaborators. This position requires expertise in three areas 1) Broader knowledge and understanding of R&D preferably in the context of mitochondrial diseases. 2) Ability to build effective preclinical and clinical development plans in collaboration with project leads, and 3) Ability to identify and mitigate operational hurdles in project execution.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to strategies that advance projects from early stage to IND and clinical development

  • Support strategic prioritization of projects within the portfolio

  • Identify critical-path project goals, activities, and constraints.

  • Develop and manage relationships with CROs that may support project needs, in particular, the RFP process

  • Direct, motivate, and hold accountable to goals and timelines all internal and external team members associated with the project

  • Facilitate cross-functional decision making

  • Proactively manage project execution as well as potential risk areas, supporting identification and implementation of mitigation and/or contingency plans

  • Effectively communicate project status, changes to plan and risks to senior management team

  • Collate Monthly Reports (updates) for all the projects from Mitobridge and Nanna Therapeutics (UK)Assist with coordination of semi-annual Scientific Advisory Board meetings

Organizational Context:

This position will report directly to the Head of Drug Discovery. The Head of Drug Discovery reports directly to the President of Mitobridge.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • BA/BS 12+ years related experience, Advanced degree with 10+ years BS in appropriate scientific discipline, with 10+ years of relevant pharmaceutical discovery and development experience OR

  • 5+ years in managing/supervising cross functional teams with timeline management

  • programs in the pharmaceutical industry

  • 6+ years of direct people management experience

  • Prior experience managing

  • Familiar with MS Project and/or Smart Sheet

Preferred:

  • Prior experience working with regulatory submissions (e.g., IND submissions) highly desirable

  • Prior experience in translational sciences highly desirable

  • Exceptional verbal/written communication, time/resource management, attention to detail, interpersonal and organization skills

  • Project Management certification (PMP) or other project management education/training is a plus

  • Clear communication skills with strong ability to influence relevant stakeholder groups
