Astellas’ Global Capability Centers – Overview

Astellas’ Global Capability Centers (GCCs) are strategically located sites that give Astellas the ability to access talent across various functions in the value chain and to co-locate core capabilities that are currently dispersed. Our three GCCs are in India, Poland and Mexico.

This position is based in Bengaluru and will require on-site work.

Purpose and Scope:

As a Performance Test Engineer, you will be a crucial player in driving our digital initiatives forward in our agile organization. Our agile operating model consists of two components – Digital Capability and Digital Execution. Digital Execution is about aligning multiple missions around business goals and facilitating collaboration on a larger scale. Digital Capability, on the other hand, focuses on the growth and development of individuals within a specific expertise area. This dual structure enables us to scale agile practices efficiently while maintaining a focus on both product development and individual skill enhancement.

As a Performance Test Engineer, you will manage and contribute to our performance testing efforts, responsible for the full lifecycle of performance testing, from strategy and planning to execution, analysis, and reporting to ensure the scalability, stability, and reliability of our applications. The ideal candidate will have experience with load testing tools, scripting, performance monitoring, and bottleneck analysis.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Independently design and develop complex performance test strategies, including load, stress, endurance, capacity, and other relevant tests.

  • Lead performance testing efforts for key projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.

  • Proactively identify and address potential performance risks and bottlenecks.

  • Develop and implement performance monitoring solutions and dashboards.

  • Contribute to the definition and implementation of performance SLAs and ensure adherence.

  • Analyze test results, identify performance bottlenecks, and provide actionable recommendations for optimization.

  • Collaborate closely with development, QA, and operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve performance issues.

  • Mentor junior performance test engineers / stakeholders, providing guidance and support.

  • Drive performance testing process improvements and innovation, staying up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive performance test reports and documentation.

  • You will also provide technical support for Tricentis Tosca and OpenText ALM and resolve issues with external agencies and teams, business users and software vendors.

  • Ensure the applications are secure, compliant, and projects adhere to Astellas SLC best practices, including managing identity and access and securing data. Generate and maintain related documentation including SOPs, WIPs, STL Templates and Training Materials as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in performance testing.

  • Strong understanding of performance testing methodologies and best practices.

  • Extensive experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, etc.).

  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript).

  • Deep experience with performance monitoring tools (e.g., AppDynamics, Dynatrace, New Relic).

  • Familiarity with automation and test reporting applications (e.g., Tricentis Tosca, OpenText ALM, JIRA).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Deep understanding of application architectures and distributed systems.

  • Experience with cloud-based performance testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of database performance tuning.

  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.

  • Certification in performance testing.
